Mid-Prairie Splits With Tigers

The Mid-Prairie boys and girls basketball teams split a River Valley Conference doubleheader Tuesday night at Tipton.

The Golden Hawk girls opened the night with a win 62-49. The Hawks made their move in the second quarter, already leading 13-8 after one, Mid-Prairie went on a 16-2 run that lasted the entire frame to take a 29-10 lead into the locker room. Mid-Prairie would extend that lead to 24 at the end of the third and coast for the win. Addie Rath led the Hawks with 25 points, Phelan Hostetler had 14 and Shae Becker 12. The Golden Hawk girls are now 9-2 on the season.

In the boys game, Tipton led 17-11 after one quarter and 37-24 at the half. The Tigers continued to pull away in the second half stretching their lead to as many as the 18 point final margin. With the loss the Hawks are now 2-9 on the year. The Mid-Prairie boys and girls will both be back in action Friday when they host West Branch.
