With the hall decorated in blue, black, and silver, each attendee will be crowned a king or queen at the Night to Shine in Washington.

Ann Williams, who is helping to organize the event, explains the formal prom is for adults with disabilities and is one of 500 held worldwide by the Tim Tebow Foundation, “This is in conjunction with Valentine’s Day so that people know who have special needs that they are loved.”

She adds there are many ways people in the community can take part in the event, from helping with decorating, to serving the meal or cleaning up afterwards, “We need buddies. Every guest that attends will have a buddy. They will be there to great them, to cheer them on through the night, eat dinner with them, and most importantly be there to dance or to sing with them with karaoke.” High school students who volunteer will earn Silver Cord hours.

The Night to Shine will be held at the KC Hall in Washington on February 9th with a banquet and dance. The Tim Tebow Foundation has committed over $3.5 million in financial support to assist the communities hosting these events.
