It was a Southeast Conference showdown in Mount Pleasant on Friday night when the Washington boys’ basketball team faced off with the Panthers and fell 82-49.

As heard on KCII, the Panthers looked prime for another state tournament bid, as they wasted no time in pressuring the Demons. Early turnovers led to fast break points and quickly the Panthers were out to a 17-0 lead before the Demons scored. Mount Pleasant was up 25-4 after the first and 48-23 heading into the break. With 14 turnovers at the half, the Demons started to settle in and get the offense going in the final two quarters, but it was too late and the Panthers coasted to the win. The veteran Panthers were led by their leading scorer for the past four years Brady Sartorious. The senior had a game-high 28 points and fellow senior Jordan Magnani added 18. The pair has been the Panthers’ top two leading scorers since their freshman year. Jack Redlinger led the Demons with 10 points and Jaivonn Willis added seven.

With the loss the Demons fall to 2-6 on the year and 1-3 in conference while the Panthers improve to 7-2. Washington gets back on the court Tuesday traveling to West Liberty.
