The Sigourney Savages and Keota Eagles met Tuesday night in a South Iowa Cedar League rivalry basketball doubleheader in Sigourney.The No. 15 ranked Sigourney girls basketball rolled to a 54-16 win. The Savages jumped out to a 19-12 lead over the Eagles and then dug in defensively, allowing just four total Keota points over the games final three quarters including shutting out the Eagles in the third quarter, and not allowing a field goal the entire second half. Autum Barthelman had 16 points, Brooke Waechter went for 13 for Sigourney. With the win Sigourney is now 11-3 overall. Keota falls to 1-14.

The Keota boys salvaged the split with a 57-44 win. The Eagles led by seven after one at 19-12 but the Savages pulled within 25-23 going to the half. Sigourney was within one going into the final eight minutes with Keota holding a precarious 37-36 lead. In the fourth it was all Eagles as they went on a 20-8 run down the stretch to secure the win. JD Stout led the way for Keota with 25 points. Spencer Magill led Sigourney with nine. With the win Keota improves to 11-3. Sigourney falls to 6-8.
