Is a whiter smile one of your new year’s resolutions?

Maintaining good dental hygiene may not just be regularly brushing and flossing. Dr. Erika Hahn of Kalona Family Dental shares which routine patients have the most difficulty practicing, “I would say one of the most difficult is just maintaining regular six-month check ups and coming in consistently because everyone’s got busy schedules and a lot going on. So I know that can be something that’s difficult, but I know it’s also extremely important to maintaining good dental health.”

Hahn says six-month appointments gives dentists the opportunity to look at teeth and gums, and try to catch anything before it becomes a bigger problem. If you are unsure of your dental insurance coverage, Hahn recommends to contact your insurance provider and find what plan is best for you. She adds that dental offices may provide different payment plans for people without dental insurance.
