Last year the Washington County Mini Bus provided 67,835 rides and traveled over 300,000 miles.

Director Cris Gaughan presented the demand and response transportation organization’s annual report at a recent Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting and explained they provide over 225 scheduled rides each day and about 78 call in rides. Counties similar in size to Washington, like Jones, Benton, and Iowa average 23,000 to 31,000 total rides per year. Last fiscal year the county provided $50,000 in funding and this year the Mini Bus is increasing the ask to $60,000. This is about nine percent of the overall budget, 27% comes from fares, and 31% is from the East Central Iowa Council on Governments.
