The Washington basketball teams get back into Southeast Conference play tonight when they travel to Fairfield for a doubleheader.

The Demon girls will look to build off of a 53-16 dominating performance on Saturday over Oskaloosa. Washington (5-8) and Fairfield (10-3) met last month with the Trojans having the upper hand winning 62-47. If the Demons want to flip the script they will have to tame Amber Buch, who dropped 27 points on them in the first meeting and she averages a conference leading 19 points a game. Both teams know how to clean up the boards, as they each average 32 rebounds a game that ties for the conference best. Addison Six and Brooke Stout lead the Demons in that department with eight and seven a night, respectively. Sarah Nacos leads the Demon scoring with 13 points a contest.

In the boys’ game it is a battle for third place in the conference and the Demons are looking for revenge losing to the Trojans 60-51 in December. Washington (4-6) will have to do a better job in the rebounding department, as Fairfield (4-8) controlled the boards 40-22. Jaivonn Willis could help in that area, as he has averaged seven rebounds a game since joining the team last month. The Demons are riding high after a 77-50 win over Davis County on Tuesday. Jack Redlinger has been on a tear in the second half of the season and now averages 13 points a game. Dante Cingire has led the Trojans with 10 points a contest.

The girls’ game gets started at 6:15 p.m. tonight with the boys to follow at Fairfield High School. Tune into 106.1 FM KCII to listen to the coverage starting at 5:45 with the Washington HyVee pregame show.
