A Washington native’s fourth novel is written and the first one published comes out this week.

Tom Hunt’s thriller is titled “Killer Choice,” which is about a happily married couple and the wife falls ill. There is treatment for it, but it is very expensive. The husband is then approached by a man who says he’ll pay if the husband will kill a certain person and the plot goes from there. Hunt says it took about a year to write the book and then about two years to go through edits and to be published, but he encourages aspiring writers to keep at it, “It’s kind of like anything in life, you’ll have good days and bad days. The key is just get as much done as you can on the good days, and on the bad days buckle down and get some work down. You know, a lot of people talk about writer’s block, and I don’t know if that’s really a thing, I think it’s more just kind of, like I said some days for whatever reason the words are going to come easy and some days they don’t. You can’t really fall into the habit of only working on the days, or the times, that you feel like it because once you fall into that habit it really affects your productivity.”

Hunt now lives in New York City and will be visiting Washington this Saturday for a book reading, discussion and signing. The event will be held at 11:15 a.m. at the Washington Public Library.
