The first phase of Washington’s Wellness Park is estimated to cost $2.2 million.

An update on the conceptual design was presented at a recent city council meeting. City Administrator Brent Hinson explained quite a bit of engineering will go into phase one of the project, and there will be a need for value engineering, grant funding, and in-kind donations. The city currently has $1, 628,000 of city resources for the project, including Riverboat Foundation Municipal Grant funds.

Phase one is slated to include four multipurpose ball diamonds, a concession stand and restroom building, a connection to the Kewash Trail, and a multipurpose soccer field. The future large pond will first be created as a dry detention basin.

The cost for design, bidding services, and engineering and construction documents with MSA Professional Services, Inc. was approved for $90,000. Construction could begin in March with the park opening in May of 2019.
