Numerous Washington Area Soccer Program teams participated in the 2018 Winter Iowa Games this past weekend in Dubuque and a couple of them came away with the gold for indoor soccer.

The 19U male team won all four of their matches to capture first place. They won 9-4, 8-1, and 14-2 in pool play to advance to the championship round where they defeated Shocker Soccer 4-2 to capture the title. Kevin Rohr coached the team and players included Julio Salgado, Tony Torres, Chuy Velasco, Angel Dejesus, Levi Rohr, Edwin Ortega, Kyle Anderson, Abdullah Talal and Adrian Venegas.

The 13U team also took home gold by winning all three of their matches. Scores included winning 14-1, 5-1, and 3-2 in the gold match. Pro Marcelino coached the team and the roster includes Will Gilchrist-Brock, DaShaun Westphal-Edwards, Lane Shrock, Adin Muff, Angel Mata, Randy Huertero, Andrew Starr, Brayan Arreola, Lindsey Diaz, Giselle Marcelino.

The 10U and 12U teams placed third for going 2-1, and the 16U team finished 0-4.

All teams in the top three qualified for the national State Games of America in Virginia in 2019.
