Animals are known to share love unconditionally, and pet therapy is a routine part of activities at Lending Hands in Washington.

This year, Valentine’s Day falls on a pet therapy day and last week PAWS and More brought three kittens for participants to cuddle and play with. Director Tracy Laws and events coordinator Mary Jo Koehler say it’s another way to spread love, “If you would see the joy on participants’ faces, it’s wonderful the interaction.” And events coordinator Mary Jo Koehler adds, “They love the little warm fuzzies they get from the animals.”

The shelter has brought in a variety of animals including cats, dogs, guinea pigs and rabbits. Currently, PAWS and More has half off adoption fees of cats in February, coinciding with Valentine’s Day.
