The Sigourney-Keota Cobra wrestling team was in action Saturday at the Class 1A Sectional tournament at English Valleys High School.

The Cobras took second in the team race with a score of 161.5 points, qualifying for Tuesday’s 1A regional duals. Pekin won the sectional team championship with 193.5 points.

Three Cobras stood at the top of the podium on Saturday including 106lber Mason Dye, who improved his record on the season to 43-3 with his run Saturday. He won his championship match by fall over Ethan Kupka of HLV. At 138lbs Nick Ives made the top of the podium, beating Drake Harbison of Pekin by 6-5 decision to punch his ticket to districts. At 220lbs Kaleb Reeves continued his dominance, moving to 44-0 on the year, claiming the title by fall over Montezuma’s Dustin Stoner.

Dye, Ives and Reeves all advance to Saturday’s district tournament at Pleasantville. The entire Cobra team will be on the mat for regional wrestling Tuesday at Don Bosco.
