A construction site cave-in left one dead Friday.

According to the Columbus Junction Police Department, just before 3p.m. Friday afternoon local authorities responded to the scene in downtown Columbus Junction where 52-year-old Anthony Hills, owner and operator of Hills Construction, had been working on sewer repairs in the area. Hills died as a result of injuries suffered in the event. An OSHA investigation is underway and further information will be released pending its findings.

Local agencies responding to the scene included Columbus Junction Police and Fire, Wapello, Conesville, and Washington Fire Departments, the City of Wapello Maintenance Department, Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Louisa County Ambulance and Louisa County Emergency Management.
