The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk and Washington Demon boys and girls basketball teams split a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday night at Washington High School.

The Golden Hawk girls won the opener 57-46. Mid-Prairie started the game on an 11-2 run and never trailed en route to the victory. The Golden Hawks held a 28-17 lead at the half. Washington hung around with hot shooting from the outside, knocking down seven three pointers on the night but could not overcome 24 turnovers. Mid-Prairie hit 12 free throws in the fourth quarter to salt away the win. Addie Rath led the Golden Hawks with 22, Shae Becker had 12. Sarah Nacos led Washington with 16, Isabel Bailey had 10. Mid-Prairie is now 12-9 on the year, Washington falls to 6-14

The boys game belonged to the Demons start to finish as they scored a 72-34 win. Washington opened the game red hot from the floor and stayed that way, leading 19-12 after the first quarter and up 41-21 at the half. The Demons put the game out of reach in the third quarter, enacting the continuous clock midway through the frame as they outscored the Golden Hawks 24-6 in the period. The Demons would lead by as many as 41 in the second half. 10 Demons scored in the contest led by Treshaun Willis with 12 points, Blake Hartzler added 11. Mid-Prairie got seven each from Cary Schaefer and Grant Boyse. The Demons improve to 6-11 with the win, Mid-Prairie is now 5-16.
