Members from the Washington and Columbus Community/Winfield-Mt. Union wrestling teams will take it to the mat today in Fairfield for districts with a chance to punch their ticket to the state tournament next week.

The Demons had eight members qualify when they placed in the top two at sectionals last week. The Demons had three champions including Walker Ikerd at 126 lbs, Tristin Westphal-Edwards at 170 lbs, and Tanner Murphy at 220 lbs. Other Demons that qualified with a second place finish include Dillan Sanders at 132 lbs, Garrett Ikerd at 138 lbs, Collin Murphy at 182 lbs, Logan Escher at 195 lbs, and Mitchell Huisenga at 285 lbs.

The Wildcats have three wrestlers competing today. Jarod Kadel at 106 lbs and Cam Rice at 138 lbs each qualified for the event after finishing first at their sectional in Davenport. Tucker Bright also qualified finishing second at sectionals at 120 lbs.

The chance to make it to state gets started at noon today at Fairfield High School.
