The Keota boys’ basketball team was not going to let their postseason run end early, as they put the throttle down on Tri-County Thursday night winning 80-53 in the district quarterfinal.

Keota showed why they are one of the top scoring teams in the South Iowa Cedar League exploding for 21 points in the first. The Trojans were able to keep up with the high-flying Eagles in the first half only down five at the end of one, and 37-30 at the break. Keota started to crank up the defense in the second half and broke things open for the 27-point win. The Eagles had four players in double figures led by JD Stout with 28 points. Hunter Wilson had 15 and Jack Eakins had 13 points with 10 rebounds. Keota improves to 15-6 and Tri-County concludes their season at 6-15.

The Eagles advance to Tuesday’s class 1A semifinal district round traveling to Montezuma to face the Braves.
