The risk for flooding in eastern Iowa this spring is slightly below normal to normal.

According to the National Weather Service’s probabilistic hydrologic outlook, seasonal precipitation, current snow liquid water content, and river streamflows are near or below normal. Also, winter precipitation has been below normal and the cold temperatures this winter allowed for deep frost development. According to the NWS, significant spring rains will be needed for high impact flooding this season.
