The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys basketball team saw their season come to an end Tuesday night in the opening round of the class 2A district tournament at Pekin 64-48.

The Panthers opened an early 18-9 lead after one quarter behind four three point goals in the first frame. The Panthers would hit eight total triples on the night. The Golden Hawks made several pushes in the second quarter, cutting the Panther lead to three but each time Pekin had an answer for the run and took a 32-25 advantage into the break. Pekin stretched their lead to 15 out of the break with a 12-2 run midway through the third quarter. The Golden Hawks made one more push with a 9-0 burst in the fourth to cut the margin to six but would get no closer. Mid-Prairie was led by Cale Robertson with 16 points, Tom Butters finished with 10. The Hawks say goodbye to seven seniors from this year’s team, Terrhyn Jacoby, Cary Schaefer, Ryan Slaubaugh, Collin Gingerich, Josh Slaubaugh, Kyle Miller and Jacob Busch. The Golden Hawks end their season at 5-17.
