The Highland boys basketball team flexed their muscles offensively Thursday night in a 78-73 opening round playoff win over the Danville Bears at Dwight Gingerich Court at Hillcrest Union.

The Huskies got out of the gate fast, putting up 29 points in the first quarter behind five three point goals in the first frame, four from Mason McFarland. The Huskies were up 18 after the games first eight minutes and led by as many as 21 in the first half before taking a 13 point lead into the half. Danville put together an 11-2 run in third quarter and got as close as two before Highland went to Zack Lasek for an answer. The big man helped the Huskies get some breathing room, moving the lead to double figures again going to the fourth. Danville made another late push in the final frame, cutting the lead again to two, but Highland held on for the win.

Zack Lasek led the Huskies with 30 points. McFarland finished with 19, Trey Lasek had 14 and Cole Adamson 11. The Huskies hit 11 threes on the night. With the win Highland is now 11-11 on the year and will be in action Tuesday in the district semifinals against top seed IMS.
