The Winfield-Mt. Union girls’ basketball team saw their season come to a close on Tuesday when they fell to Holy Trinity in the class 1A regional quarterfinal round 53-38.

The Crusaders got out to a quick start up 14-6 after the first. The Wolves started to settle in and outscored Holy Trinity 18-9 in the second to take a 24-23 lead at the break. The Crusaders made adjustments in the second half to take a five-point lead into the fourth and pulled away late for the 15-point win. The Wolves committed 27 turnovers that led to 16 points for Holy Trinity. Lexee Hartsock had a big day with 17 points and 12 boards. Karley Schlee added 11 points for the Wolves. Holy Trinity advances to the semifinal round where they match up with Montezuma. The Wolves close the season with an 11-12 record.

WMU loses Hartsock, Schlee, Molly Jennings, Lauren Jamison, Allie McArtor, and Pearl Krieger-Coble to graduation.
