The Iowa Mennonite Boys basketball team posted their third win of the season over Highland, eliminating the Huskies from the class 1A district tournament Tuesday night in Mount Pleasant 52-38.

IMS jumped out to a 7-2 lead early, but that was the largest margin for either side in the first half, with IMS on top 12-8 after one and just 24-23 at the break. Out of the half, IMS turned up the defensive pressure and outscored Highland 18-12 in the third to get a bit of breathing room going to the fourth. In the final frame, the Huskies couldn’t find any traction to start a comeback as IMS pulled away for the 14 point win. IMS was led by Eli Ours with 15 points, Mitchell Schmeider had 14 and Reggie Borntrager 10. Highland was led by Zack Lasek with 12 points. Highland wraps up their season at 11-12 and will say goodbye to seniors Thomas Tory and Dennis Levsen. IMS advances to Thursday’s district championship game to face New London who was a 55-49 winner over Burlington Notre Dame on Tuesday.
