They. Aren’t. Done. Yet.

The Iowa Mennonite School girls basketball team continued their magical run in the postseason Tuesday with a 48-47 come from behind win on the road over English Valleys, marking their second straight playoff win by a single point.

English Valleys started the game on an 8-2 run and led 12-7 at the end of the first. IMS would trail by as many as 10 in the first half and go into the locker room down 27-19. The Bears picked up where they left off, going up 11 midway through the third quarter before IMS made their move. Iowa Mennonite went on a 13-1 run that ended midway through the fourth quarter taking their first lead of the night at 33-32. Things see-sawed back and fourth for the next three minutes with IMS eventually taking a 46-41 lead on a pair of Suzanna Yoder free throws with 90 seconds left. EV answered with a three pointer to pull within 46-44 with 55 seconds left. IMS was able to bleed the clock to 22 seconds with the lead. Out of a time out, Yoder split a double team, laid the ball in to make it a four point game and send IMS to the regional semis.

Yoder led IMS with 29 points, Alyssa Hershberger added 12.

With the win, IMS improves to 5-16 overall. English Valleys ends their season at 13-10. IMS will next be in action Friday in the regional semifinal round of the playoffs against undefeated #3 North Mahaska in New Sharon.
