Over 115,000 volunteer hours were logged by nearly 2,000 Master Gardeners in Iowa last year.
According to Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, that equates to volunteer hours valued at $2.7 million improving Iowa. Master Gardeners work across the state on a variety of projects. In 2017, nearly 75,000 pounds of fresh produce was donated to food pantries across the state. Master Gardeners are required to volunteer 20 hours each year.
