A pursuit began in Washington County and ended in Henry County with the driver fleeing on foot
early Wednesday morning.

According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 5:03 a.m. a sheriff’s deputy was in pursuit of a vehicle in Brighton, that ended up wrecking at Highway 78 and Franklin Avenue, east of Wayland. The male driver fled the vehicle and has not yet been located. Charges are pending and his name has not been released by officials. No injuries were reported, but a passenger was transported to the Washington County Hospital emergency room as a precaution to be checked out. Assisting with the case are Washington Police, Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, and DCI.
