A 26-unit apartment complex with commercial space has been proposed to the City of Riverside.

Realtor Brad Akers and his partner Dan Sweeting proposed to the Riverside City Council at a recent meeting to construct the building at 1096 Walnut Avenue, near the Walnut Towers Golf Villas complex off of Highway 22. Akers told the council that he and Sweeting recently became the owners of the empty lot, and he describes the building plans, “This building would have 26 units in it, nine one-bedrooms, 14 two-bedrooms, and three three-bedrooms. The one thing we’ve noticed by owning this current property out there is that we get a lot of calls [about] rental and we think this would fill a real need in your community for rental properties.”

The plans include underground parking and about 2,800 square feet of commercial space, which they suggested could be rented to a daycare or fitness center. Akers says they want to break ground this spring. The Planning and Zoning Commission will meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. to review the plans and discuss recommendations to the city council.
