The Sigourney Savage boys basketball team scored a first round win over the Moravia Mohawks in class 1A district play Thursday night 60-49.

The Savages led 17-11 after one quarter and pushed the lead to 31-22 at the half. Sigourney had the answer for every Mohawk run on the night as they played even with Moravia in the second half to collect the 11 point win. Sigourney shot 50% from the floor and had 19 assists on 25 made baskets. They put three in double figures, led by Brady Powers with 18 points. Kyle Weber and Dustin Haines each had 10. With the win the Savages are now 10-12 and will next be in action Tuesday in Montezuma against top seed Lynnville-Sully.
