Walker Ikerd fell in his first match of the day at 120 lbs to #8 ranked Kurtis Krager of OABCIG by fall (5:09). The junior turned around and won his second match by a 14-10 decision against #9 Bryce Hatten of Winterset. He advances to the second round of consolations to wrestle the loser between #2 Kaden Anderlik of Crestwood and #3 Drake Doolittle of Webster City.

#3 Tristin Westphal-Edwards won his only match of the day at 170 lbs by a 9-8 decision over #10 Lincoln Coakley of Estherville-Lincoln Central. He advances to the quarterfinals tomorrow to face Paul Ryan of Mount Vernon.

Mitchell Huisenga fell in his first match at 285 lbs by a 6-1 decision to #1 Cooper Lawson of Webster City. He then won his first consolation match 8-1 over Mario Moncada of South Tama. The senior matches up tomorrow with the loser between #8 Kobe Clayborne of Sioux City Bishop Heelan Catholic and #3 Solon’s Tyler Linderbaum.

 

Columbus Community/Winfield-Mt. Union

#1 Jared Kadel won his only match at 106 lbs by a 9-0 major decision over Cole Whitehead of Center Point Urbana. He advances to the quarterfinals tomorrow to face #6 Jacob Mielke of Pocahontas Area.

Cam Rice won his first match by a 3-0 decision at 138 lbs over Kruze Kibers of Winterset. His quarterfinal matchup will be against #4 Tanner Probasco of South Tama on Friday.

 

Class 1A (Thursday 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.)

Sigourney-Keota has #9 Mason Dye at 106lbs in first round action against Seth Danker of Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center. The Cobras also have #2 Kaleb Reeves at 220lbs in the opening round against Joel Mendoza of Eagle Grove.

Aaron Slaughter will represent the Lone Tree Lions in the first round today at 113lbs when he matches up with Will Martin of Moravia.

Highland’s Brady Hahn will be on the mat at 145lbs against Kameron Black of Mason City Newman Catholic.

WACO’s Cody Crawford, ranked No. 8 in the state at 285lbs will open the tournament against #2 Enrique Maravilla of Manson Northwest Webster
