Riverside Road will see improvements this spring.

A contract was awarded to Streb Construction of Iowa City by the Washington County Board of Supervisors Tuesday. Work will include overlay work from G26 to G36 and from Spruce Avenue north to Riverside, crews will be adding six inches of pavement and widening the existing pavement out to 32 feet. Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius said they estimated the project at $4 million and received eight bids. He said the work is funded by federal dollars, state farm to market funds, and safety funds. Streb Construction was the lowest bid and came in under the estimate at $3,704,260.57. The highest bid was nearly $4.8 million. Work is set to begin this spring on the road that was originally constructed in 1962-63.
