A resolution to increase taxes to fund emergency communication equipment in Washington County was approved unanimously Tuesday by the Washington County Board of Supervisors.

Chairman Abe Miller said the board discussed the measure in a workshop and explained the increase is 50-cents per $1,000 to the debt levy. The resolution states the direct annual tax collection for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2018, will produce $626,496. These funds will be used for payment on the principal and interest of bonds for the emergency services communication equipment. The exact cost of that equipment is not yet known, as the request for proposals are due at the end of March.
