The schematic design for the new Washington Fire Station was presented at Tuesday’s City Council meeting.

Kristofer Orth with Design Alliance explained the fire station will first be constructed and then the current building will be renovated to house only City Hall and the police department, but during construction everything will remain operational in the departments. To prepare the site south of the existing building for construction to begin in September, first the egg sewer must be relocated and new electrical will be run to the site. Also, an underground stormwater detention basin will be installed. The new fire station is approximately 14,300 square feet. And the total estimated project cost is $2.9 million including construction costs.
