Washington High School Sending 12 to State Speech Contest

Twelve Washington High School speech team students are advancing to the State Contest.

The speech team performed in 23 different events at Tri-County High School Saturday at the District Individual Speech Contest. Sixteen of those events earned Division I ratings, which qualifies them to advance to the state contest. Students who received Division I ratings are Stephanie Plants, Logan Hanson, Rio Lujano, Jeremiah Carter, Rose Towner, Abby Schnicker, John Flannery, Grace Miller, Baylee Stalder, Addison McGuire, Meghan Newman, and Casey Peiffer. The state contest is March 10th at Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School.

Logan Hanson with both Solo Musical Theater and Acting
Rio Lujano with both After Dinner Speaking and Individual Improv.
Jeremiah Carter with Storytelling
Rose Towner with Original Oratory

Grace Miller with both Storytelling and Acting
Baylee Stalder with both After Dinner Speaking and Expository Address
Addison McGuire with Solo Musical Theater
