The Washington basketball teams had their final Southeast Conference doubleheader on Friday in Fort Madison and came away with a split.

In the girls’ game they managed the season sweep of the Bloodhounds with a 45-19 victory. In the first half the winless Bloodhounds were able to slow the game down and only trailed 17-8 at the break. In the second half, the Demons were able to speed the game up utilizing a press to break the game open. They led 27-14 after three and cruised to the 26-point win. Sarah Nacos led the way offensively for Washington with 11-points. Morgan Brinning, Isabel Bailey, and Kira Ropp each added five points apiece. In the boys’ game, the Demons had a good start but couldn’t hold on and fell 87-49. Jacob Van Osdol started out with a three with 10 seconds into the game and that jumpstarted the Demon offense. They were able to counter everything thrown at them and held a 16-15 lead after the first. The bigger Bloodhounds started to take over in the second, as they turned a deficit into a 44-26 lead at the break. That lead continued to grow in the second half en route to the 38-point win. Treavor Kokjohn was hard to stop for Fort Madison working inside and out, finishing with a game-high 28 points. Dalton Myers led Washington with 13 points and Cale Hobscheidt added 12.
