The Washington basketball teams get back on the hardwood tonight when they travel to Fort Madison for a Southeast Conference doubleheader.

The Demon girls’ (5-12) will look to snap a four-game losing skid and seek the season sweep of the Bloodhounds. The Demons beat up on Fort Madison (0-18) last month with a 55-19 win in Washington. Isabel Bailey is coming off a season-high 14 points in Saturday’s loss to Cedar Rapids Prairie. The winless Bloodhounds have struggled to find scoring, averaging the second fewest points in class 4A with 27 per game. They were last in action Saturday falling to Central Lee 36-25. Sarah Bernhart leads them with six points a game while shooting at a 33% clip.

The Demons boys (5-11) will try to manage the season split with the Bloodhounds falling 76-49 in their first meeting. Since season-leading scorer Jack Redlinger went down last week, the Demons have had offensive production from a variety of players. Three different players have led them in scoring in the last three games including Cale Hobscheidt with 26, Blake Hartzler with 17, and Luke Turner with 12. Fort Madison (11-6) is coming off of back-to-back losses to Mount Pleasant and Central Lee. Treavor Kokjohn leads the Bloodhounds with 15 points and 14 rebounds a contest.

The girls’ game gets started at 6:15 p.m. tonight with the boys to follow at Fort Madison High School. Tune into 106.1 FM KCII to listen to the play-by-play coverage starting at 5:45 p.m. with the Washington HyVee pregame show.
