A fourth generation farmer, an author, a photographer, a dean from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University, and the director of the Center for Ag Law and Taxation at ISU are all speaking in Washington for the Women in Agriculture Conference.

The theme of the second annual event is “The Power of You” and attendees will hear from a slate of female speakers about a variety of topics. Washington County Extension Director Nancy Adrian says it is beneficial to hear from different aspects of agriculture, “We all come to agriculture from different places, and different stages in our lives, and it’s such an all-encompassing industry that there’s a lot to take in and a lot to understand, so we wanted to approach it from several different angles.” Field agronomist Rebecca Vittetoe adds it is important for women to hear from other women in the field.

Last year, 100 people attended from across southeast Iowa. The conference will be held March 24th and to register contact the Washington County Extension Office, or click here for the registration form. There is a discounted fee for students.
