Central College is again a showcase for the best of track and field in Iowa today when the Dutch host their girls high school indoor track and field event.

Area teams making the trip include the Washington Demons, Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks, Iowa Mennonite School, Lone Tree Lady Lions, Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves, and WACO Warriors.

The Washington Demons opened their indoor season last week, hosting their annual meet at Cornell College. The Demons posted four top 15s in their first event led by Hannah Anderson’s individual title in the 60m dash. She also finished third in the long jump and was part of the 4×400 team of Ashley Telleen, Leah Marek and Jenah Greiner that finished in ninth place. Isabel Bailey was 11th in the long jump.

The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks opened the season Monday at the Iowa State Indoor meet in Ames. Anna and Marie Hostetler led the charge for the Hawks with Anna finishing as runner up in the 3000 and Marie taking third in the event. Anna was third in the 800, Marie was 17th in that event. The Golden Hawks also got a 12th place finish from their 4×800 team and 15th place finishes from the 4×400 and sprint medley squads.

It will be the season opener for IMS, Lone Tree, Winfield-Mt. Union and WACO. Action continues all day at Kuyper Fieldhouse in Pella.
