Students in area high schools are able to attend concurrent credit courses at the Kirkwood Washington Regional Center, meaning they earn both high school credit and college credit at the same time.

Director of the Center Tera Pickens says some students are able to become college graduates before they receive their high school diplomas, as one Highland student did so last year and two Washington students are on the path to do so this year, “Ironically, Kirkwood’s graduation is a week before Washington High School’s graduation, so these two students will actually be college graduates before technically they are high school graduates.” Their names are not available at this time.

There are 13 different academies students can take part in from welding and automotive, to nursing and liberal arts. Students and their parents should be planning now if they want to enroll in fall 2018 concurrent credit classes.
