The Northern Iowa women’s basketball team beat Missouri State in the Missouri Valley Tournament Semifinals Saturday 70-58 to advance to the championship game Sunday.

The Drake women’s basketball team beat Southern Illinois Saturday 68-58 in the semifinals of the Missouri Valley tournament to advance to the championship game.

In the matchup between the Panthers and the Bulldogs it was the Drake women who won the Valley title 75-63. This clinches the second straight trip to the NCAA tournament for Drake.

The Iowa baseball team was swept in all three games over the weekend in Las Vegas by the UNLV Rebels. The scores were 4-0, 11-2 and 13-3. The Hawkeyes are now 8-5 on the year and face Missouri State Wednesday.

The Iowa softball team opened the Grand Canyon Invitational in Arizona by winning three of their first four including a 5-0 and 2-0 sweep of Georgetown and a split with Grand Canyon, winning game one 12-1 and dropping the second game 1-0. The Hawkeyes wrap up action in Phoenix today with one final game against Grand Canyon. The Hawks are 8-8 on the year.

The Iowa State softball team was 3-2 over the weekend at the Houston Hilton Plaza Classic. The Cyclones got wins over Penn State 3-0, Houston 4-1 and Lipscomb 6-1 before falling to Lipscomb and Northwestern by matching 1-0 scores. The Cyclones stand at 13-12 on the year.

The UNI Panther softball team split four games over the weekend at the Jayhawk Invitational in Lawrence, Kansas. Beating Kansas 8-4 and Green Bay 1-0 while falling to UMKC 5-3 and Nebraska 6-3. The Panthers are 15-9 on the year.
