Another 18-win season is in the books for the Sigourney girls’ basketball season and a big part for their success was their intensity on the defensive end.

While Sigourney had the top scorer in the South Iowa Cedar League in Autum Barthelman and a top four scoring offense, the defense is what made the Savages a tough out. The team gave up the fourth fewest points in class 2A with 788 to average 36 a night. Full court pressure caused a lot of havoc to opponents as they racked up the most steals on the season with 370. Barthelman led the league in that category with 108, Brooke Waechter was fourth with 75, and Summer Barthelman was fifth with 72.

The Savages finished with an 18-4 record.
