The Washington Archery team took over the Iowa State Fairgrounds last weekend, qualifying for the Iowa State Championship Meet for the fifth straight season.

Along with the bulls eye tournament, the Demons also qualified at the High School, Middle School and Elementary levels in the 3-D tournament.

The Washington High School team finished fourth in the 3-D event with 1646 points. Eddyville-Blakesburg won the state title with 1686 points. Top shooter for the Demons was Samantha Mellinger, taking sixth overall, with her score of 281. Other scorers for Washington included Griffin Wood at 280, Anna Miller 276, Alexis Ide 275, Cooper Reed 270, Cody Mellinger and Kylee Porter 264, Braeden Duwa 262, Johnathan Bartholomew and Maggie Morgan 257, Samantha Frana 256, and Bryan Martin 254.

The Washington Middle School team took eighth place with an overall score of 1540. Cardinal Middle School won the title with a score of 1634. Top shooter for the Demons was Allison Rees with a 269. Other scores for Washington included William Peterson 262, Curtis Stender and Duston Sorrells 257, Alex Craff 251, Bryce Dewolf 247, Lane Frana 245, Paige Labelle 244, Makynna Morgan 243, Brian Fritz 234 and Riley Kasper 196.

The Lincoln Elementary team finished sixth in the state with an overall score of 1304. Cardinal Elementary took the state title with a score of 1463. Top shooter for the Demons was Cash Pepper with a score of 240. Other scores for Washington included Andy Labelle at 231, Sammy Jo Helfrich 228, Blaine Hodson 217, Nikole Hall, Kaden Read and Kyann Miller at 194,  and Mila Hansen 182.
