The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls golf team will be on the course tonight for the first time when they welcome Iowa City Liberty to the Kalona Golf Course.

Mid-Prairie is coming off of a season that saw them finish seventh at the River Valley Conference championship meet. The Hawks were eliminated last year in the first round of regionals in Centerville, finishing fourth with a team score of 415. The Golden Hawks were led last season by Paige Slabaugh, who signed to play collegiately at Millikin University this week. Slabaugh had a nine hole average score of 49 last season, third best in RVC. Mid-Prairie will have to replace their No. 2 and No. 3 players by the numbers with Olivia Nisly and Lindsey Palmer moving on through graduation, but the Hawks do return experience in Abbi Patterson, Emma Mattes, Mikenzie Bontrager and Abby Statler. This is the first season that Iowa City Liberty has had a girls golf program. Action begins tonight at four at the Kalona Golf Course.
