Iowa ranked fourth in unemployment in January, tied with Nebraska and Vermont.

According to Iowa Workforce Development, Iowa’s unemployment rate was 2.9% while the country’s overall rate was 4.1%. The highest unemployment rate was 6.8% in Marshall County. Washington County’s unemployment rate increased from 2.5% in December to 3.6% in January. Also, all of Washington’s contiguous counties saw increases in unemployment during that time.
