The Kalona Public Library is hosting their second creative arts workshop for adults aged 55 and older.

This is one of four workshops provided by the Iowa Arts Learning in Libraries Initiative (ALLI) program. ALLI selected Kalona and 17 other libraries across the state to take part in the program, as Library Director Anne Skaden explains, “The goal was to partner local arts organizations with rural, specifically rural public libraries to engage older adults with participatory skill-based arts programs that meet creative, cognitive, and social needs. Then we did a survey and chose four programs that people in Kalona seemed interested in.”

A memoir and journaling workshop will be held Wednesday (3/28) from 2-4 p.m. at the Kalona Public Library. Participants will be led by Debbie Sanderfield Farrow of the LET’s Center for the Healing & Creative Arts, and the event is free to attend. Call the Kalona Public Library to register at 319-656-3501.
