The City of Kalona wants to remind residents of their burning regulations this spring.

According to Kalona City Code, open burning is allowed during the months of April, May, October, and November on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Burn barrels are prohibited, and burn rings 24 inches in height may be used only for burning landscape waste, excluding lawn clippings. All fires must be at least 50 feet from any structure or building, and must be extinguished if citizens complain about the smoke generated from the fire.
