Three local nurses have been named as honorees of the 100 Great Iowa Nurses of 2018.

Kalona residents Wendee Beranek and Patricia Troyer and Riverside resident Brandi Garrett are recipients. Beranek and Troyer both work for University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and Garrett works for the Iowa City Veterans Affairs Health Care System. The 100 nurses are honored at the beginning of National Nurses Week with an annual celebration May 6 in Des Moines. Nurses are nominated by patients, coworkers, friends, and family members, and are then selected after a two-part review process. 100 Great Iowa Nurses represent many sectors of health care and come from all practice areas in nursing including acute care, sub-acute care, school nursing, academics, and more.
