Mid-Prairie sophomore cross country star Marie Hostetler has been recognized as the Gatorade Runner of the Year for the state of Iowa.

The list of accomplishments was long for Hostetler this fall including bringing home an individual state title in an all-time female state record time of 17:51.2, being a part of the first ever girls state team champion in Mid-Prairie program history, individual River Valley Conference champion, part of a conference team title, and seven time individual race champion. She has a 4.0 GPA and is a volunteer with the Special Olympics as a youth track coach. She receives a $1,000 grant with the award to donate to a cause of her choice.
