St. Patrick’s Day brought with it a morning snowfall of approximately 2.5 inches across the area.

There were 17 car wrecks in Washington County Saturday between 7:49 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., according to the Washington County Communications Office. Of those wrecks, nine were cars that went into the median along Highway 218.

At 8:40 a.m. a person called in that a vehicle had rolled in her front yard along Highway 22 west of Wellman. Iowa State Patrol, Washington County Ambulance, Washington Rescue, and Wellman Fire Department and QRS responded to the scene. There was no transport and the vehicle was towed.

At 9:43 a.m. a caller reported a vehicle on its side along Wayland Road, near 290th Street, and the driver had hit her head. Washington County Sheriff’s personnel, Washington Rescue, Washington Fire, and Washington County Ambulance assisted at the scene. There was no transport and the vehicle was towed.
