The latest hire date of a new superintendent in the Washington School District is expected to be May 1st.

Monday the Washington School Board held a special session meeting to discuss a recent staff survey, along with the search plan for a new superintendent. Current Superintendent Jeff Dicks announced his resignation effective the end of the school year on Friday. The board approved having applications due April 6th, with a salary of up to $195,000 based on qualifications and experience. The board also discussed the current sharing agreement with WACO for the position and the future of that, saying it may be an option moving forward depending on the candidate selected. This school year the Washington School District saved over $300,000 in sharing agreements with other districts, including superintendent, business manager, and transportation. The first round of interviews to fill the superintendent position will be held April 16th and 18th.
