Washington County’s annual spring weigh-in for production swine is today and there is a new class coming to the fair this year.

A production gilt class will be part of the fair and area youth will have the opportunity to show swine in this class, which is modeled after the production barrow class in previous years. Guidelines for production swine for the 2018 Washington County Fair include a maximum of six gilts and six barrows per exhibitor at the weigh-in at the Washington County Fairgrounds. No pigs over 45 pounds at weigh-in are accepted. Also, the swine committee is strictly enforcing the market weight range of 220 to 300 pounds for market swine entries, with the exception being production swine can surpass the maximum 300 pounds and still be eligible for class entry and show due to the rate of gain feature in production divisions.
