An audit report for Washington County has been released by the State Auditor’s Office.

According to the report, the county had a local tax revenue of $38.2 million for the fiscal year that ended June 30th, 2017. That revenue included $3.28 million in tax credits from the state. Of that total tax revenue, 74% was forwarded to the townships, school districts, cities, and other taxing bodies in the county. Washington County retained $9,888,882 of the local tax revenue to finance county operations, which is a 4.1% increase over the prior year. Expenses for county operations totaled $18.7 million, a 4.8% increase over the prior year.
