A special meeting will be held this weekend at the Mid-Prairie School District to discuss the status of a volunteer.

The tentative agenda states there will be a discussion of policies and procedures relating to volunteers and community organizations. The board will discuss the status of Trent Yoder, Mid-Prairie Spelling Club coach, as a volunteer. Board President Jeremy Pickard says the meeting follows a closed session Superintendent Mark Schneider requested Monday after Yoder’s criminal history was made public in the media, “At that meeting we simply collected information about what had happened and what had gone on in the past. We’ve had a little bit of time now since Monday to process the information and we’d like to take some action on that and make some recommendations to Mr. Schneider on where the board’s at pertaining to that decision.”

According to Iowa records, Yoder plead guilty to sexual exploitation of children in 1998 and served one and a half months in prison and four years of probation. He was taken off of the sex offender registry in 2008.

The meeting will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday in the Central Administration Office. A statement written by Schneider can be found here.
